Farmland LP is pleased to announce its acquisition of over 6,000 acres of owned and leased farmland in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a premier growing region in the U.S. with high quality soil, abundant water and an ideal growing climate. This is the second acquisition for our farmland REIT.
The property expands Farmland LP’s holdings in the Willamette Valley and gives us even better economies of scale to help accelerate the conversion from commodity crops to higher value certified organic, sustainable and local food production.
The farmland and operating assets were acquired from Olsen Agricultural Enterprises, a pioneering family in Willamette Valley agriculture for two generations. They specialized in growing a variety of crops including blueberries, hazelnuts, grass seed and peppermint, and were one of Oregon’s largest wine grape growers. Roger Olsen, Managing Member at OAE, said, “We had been looking for the right buyer for our extensive Willamette Valley holdings for some time. We recognized that we found the right way for our family to transition our farmland with Farmland LP.”
Roger and his employees have joined our team, ensuring continued high quality management of the vineyards, orchards and cropland. He is excited about having access to the additional resources Farmland LP brings and is looking forward to transitioning more of the farmland to regenerative practices.
Farmland LP now manages over 13,500 acres of farmland in Oregon and Northern California. Our organic and transitional organic land produces livestock such as premium grass-fed beef, lamb and pastured eggs, vegetables such as organic butternut squash for baby food and organic tomatoes, and more, in sustainable agriculture rotations.
